A 7-day journey through Scripture to find God's peace when worry overwhelms.
Each day pairs a Scripture reading with its historical context, connections across the Bible, a short prayer, and journal prompts to write through.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.”
Psalm 23:1-3 · KJV
David wrote this psalm drawing from his years as a shepherd boy in Bethlehem. He knew firsthand how vulnerable sheep are—prone to wander, easily frightened, unable to find water on their own. When David declares "The Lord is my shepherd," he's saying: I am just as helpless and dependent as those sheep I once tended, and God cares for me with the same devoted attention.
Jesus calls Himself "the Good Shepherd" in John 10:11, directly echoing David's words. The image of God as shepherd runs throughout Scripture—from Jacob blessing his sons (Genesis 48:15) to Isaiah's tender portrait of God carrying lambs (Isaiah 40:11) to Jesus' parable of leaving the 99 to find the one lost sheep.
We begin this journey by establishing the foundation: you are not alone in your anxiety. You have a Shepherd who sees you, knows you, and is actively leading you toward rest. Before we address specific worries, we must first settle who is in charge of our lives.
Lord, You are my shepherd. I choose to trust Your care for me today. Lead me to places of rest and restore my anxious soul. Amen.
